00:00–00:04. A small player character walks through a grassy garden beside patterned chessboard paths, lamps and other characters. A notification reads: ‘The wish takes wing — +2,500 Pawn Bucks drift home to you.’ A wild encounter opens. The screen names ‘Wild The Deflection (Lv 7)’ and ‘Mate in two.’ Its instructions include ‘2 misses and it flies,’ ‘Solve it clean and the piece is yours. Revealing the answer halves the catch,’ and ‘Show me the move (halves the catch).’

00:04–00:06. Title: ‘Pocket Pawns.’

00:06–00:14. A patterned chessboard and a fiery crowned king illustration appear side by side. The illustration is labelled ‘The Molten King’ and ‘A wild piece blocks the road.’ The main caption reads ‘A wild piece sets you a checkmate puzzle,’ followed by ‘instead of a fight.’ Pieces move across the board. The caption changes to ‘Solve it and they join you,’ then ‘Caught.’

00:14–00:17. Card: ‘Find the checkmate.’ ‘Solve the puzzle to catch the wild piece.’

00:17–00:20. The player walks along a street outside the Chess University in Openfield.

00:20–00:24. A chess battle against ‘The Prepared Stranger’ fills the screen. Team rosters flank a board in its starting position. Caption: ‘Every fight is real chess,’ with ‘every opponent plays at a real strength, from 1 to 2,700.’

00:24–00:28. Card: ‘Powered by Stockfish 18,’ with ‘the strongest free chess program in the world.’

00:28–00:30. The player walks outside ‘Frostford Chess Club’ through snowy streets.

00:30–00:35. A row of chessboards moves past. Boards carry ‘Mate in two,’ ‘Mate in four,’ ‘Mate in one,’ ‘Mate in three’ and ‘Mate in two.’ Main caption: ‘5,890 checkmate puzzles,’ with ‘every one of them checked by machine.’

00:35–00:40. Six illustrated team cards appear: The Sheriff — King; Deep Sapphire — Queen; The Garden Fork — Rook; The Quiet Geode — Bishop; The Dapple — Knight; The Sharp Line — Pawn. Their level numbers and ‘Team power’ rise from 1 through 11 and 56 to 70. Caption: ‘You play six pieces at a time,’ with ‘level them up to 70.’

00:40–00:41. The player crosses a stone street in Gearhaven beside the Chess Club and patterned boards.

00:41–00:45. ‘The Ledger of Pieces’ shows ten discovered pieces: The Pink Passer, The Green Push, The Renaissance Man, The Deflection, Honey Silo, Wax Warden, Taffy Pony, The Peppermint, Gumball and Gumdrop Stack. Caption: ‘272 pieces to collect.’ ‘Catch wild pieces. Earn others along the way.’

00:45–00:51. Large collectible illustrations appear individually: a queen crowned with flames, a white-bearded icy king holding a blue-tipped staff, and an armoured rider on a fire-breathing dragon.

00:51–00:56. Rows of collectible pieces fill a dark gallery. Caption: ‘39 of them do something extra,’ with ‘just by being on your team.’

00:56–00:61. The player passes a building, then approaches a waiting character across a chessboard beside an Openfield sign. A speech bubble reads: ‘I set the board an hour ago. I KNEW somebody would come.’ A battle screen follows. The main caption reads ‘Someone is always one step ahead.’

00:61–00:65. An illustrated map labelled ‘Casteria’ shows mountains, towns, roads, forests, a desert, coast and a volcano. Caption: ‘Nine towns. One championship.’ The image fades to black.

00:66–00:72.57. The crowned-pawn crest appears above ‘Pocket Pawns’ and ‘A piece-collecting chess RPG.’ Closing text: ‘Game footage captured in development - content subject to change.’ ‘Chess engine: Stockfish 18 (WebAssembly build) - (c) the Stockfish developers, free software under the GNU General Public License v3 - stockfishchess.org.’ ‘Original soundtrack from Pocket Pawns. · Rated USK 12 (Germany) - ClassInd 12 (Brazil).’ ‘(c) 2026 Pocket Pawn Games.
